Jaipur garment ERP: six logbooks, one dashboard
A garment manufacturer in Jaipur replaced six paper logbooks with one system for job cards, inventory and GST-ready invoicing, used on 10-inch tablets on the shop floor.

A Jaipur garment manufacturer tracked production across six paper logbooks and three Excel spreadsheets. Job cards were handwritten, material consumption was estimated, and invoicing was done in a separate accounting package. Floor managers had no real-time view of production status, and material wastage was only calculated at month end.
Constraints
- Floor staff are not software users, so the interface had to work with gloves on a 10-inch Android tablet
- The system had to be accessible offline or on slow factory WiFi
- GST invoicing required specific tax handling for the garment export category
- The factory could not stop production for a migration, so the system had to run alongside paper first, then replace it
AGA built a unified ERP dashboard covering job cards, material issue, wastage tracking, inventory, and GST-ready invoicing. A tablet-optimised interface was designed specifically for the shop floor, with large touch targets, minimal typing and confirmation-based workflows. Managers access a desktop view with real-time production status across shifts.
How the system is structured.
Simplified. Implementation details are withheld where they are commercially sensitive.

PostgreSQL database
All production, inventory and financial records in one auditable source
What makes it hold up.
- Offline-capable PWA with service worker caching for core workflows, so the floor doesn't depend on WiFi
- Optimistic UI updates for job card status changes, giving instant feedback on slow connections
- Database constraints that prevent negative inventory: material can't be issued against stock that doesn't exist
- Audit log on every inventory movement: who issued what, when, and against which job card
- Parameterised GST calculation engine supporting multiple tax categories
- Role-based access: floor operators see only their job cards, managers see all, finance sees invoicing
Key decisions, and why we made them.
- 01
Next.js PWA instead of a native Android app
A PWA runs in the browser on any Android tablet without app distribution management. Updates deploy instantly without an APK rollout. The offline capability provided the floor-reliability requirement without native development cost.
- 02
Single PostgreSQL database instead of separate inventory and production systems
The key problem was data silos. Combining production, inventory, and invoicing in one schema with foreign key relationships eliminates reconciliation between systems and provides instant cross-domain reporting.
- 03
Tablet-first interface designed independently from the desktop view
The desktop responsive approach produces compromised tablet UIs. The floor interface was designed as a separate layout with 48px minimum touch targets and swipe-based workflows, then the desktop view layered on top.
